The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) has completed an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that analyzes the potential environmental effects of Wilton Rancheria’s (Tribe’s) application for a fee-to-trust transfer and casino project to be located in Sacramento County, CA. The EIS evaluates a range of alternatives, including projects at the Elk Grove Mall site, the Twin Cities site near Galt, and the Historic Rancheria site. The BIA served as Lead Agency for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

A public hearing on the project was held at the Chabolla Community Center, located at 600 Chabolla Ave., in Galt, California on Friday, January 29, 2016.

The Final EIS and Revised Draft General Conformity Determination were released on December 9, 2016, and a BIA Notice of Availability of these documents was published in the Federal Register on December 14, 2016. The EPA Notice of Availability of the Final EIS was published in the Federal Register on December 16, 2016, and the comment period ended on January 17, 2017. Comments on the Revised General Conformity Determination were also accepted through January 17, 2017. The Final Conformity Determination was released on January 18, 2017.
